  • Australia Day Awards nominations have gone digital, residents will now need to submit their nominations online before they close on Tuesday 28 November 2017.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said it only takes a few minutes to make a difference in the lives of those who make invaluable contributions to our community.

“I often find that the people who go the extra mile are also those who often fly under the radar. The Australia Day Awards are a great opportunity for us to recognise and thank the selfless and dedicated people, groups and organisations whose achievements would otherwise go unnoticed,” he said.

“We have many inspiring people doing outstanding things across the Western Downs, and simply taking a few minutes to fill out the online nomination form is how we can ensure that our local heroes receive worthy recognition for their hard work.

“Last year we had a record number of nominations, and this year we want to have just as many if not more. So, jump onto Council’s website and nominate an inspirational local today!”

Nominations for the 2018 Australia Day Awards are open until 5pm Tuesday 28 November 2017. All nominations need to be submitted online via Council’s website.
