News and Media Centre Western Downs Regional Council is committed to keeping the community and the media informed of the latest news and events that affect our region.
In addition to daily media releases on current issues and announcements, Council keeps information flowing through its monthly Council Update and Tara Local Updates as well as bi-monthly Miles/Wandoan Local Updates published in the region's newspapers. Each quarter Council distributes an eight page Community Update Newsletter to all residents across the Western Downs region.
To ensure that the communities of the Western Downs are well informed on major issues, policies, plans and projects and have the opportunity to influence the decision making process, Council is committed to engaging in meaningful community consultation. Hosting Community Connect Forums across the region on topical issues is one such example of how Council seeks to stay in touch with the people it serves.
