We’ll bring the fun and you can bring the creativity when Western Downs Libraries Fun Palaces transform Chinchilla, Dalby, Miles and Tara into a place of science and arts where everyone young and young-at-heart can be an artist and a scientist this September and October.

  • The Fun Palaces movement aims to spread the simple message — ‘everyone an artist, everyone a scientist’ — our events are aimed at bringing all ages, across our communities together to create, engage and collaborate in a fun hands-on environment;
  • Each Fun Palaces event is free and open to everyone to attend;
  • Kicking off in Tara on Saturday 24 September our community will get the chance to experiment, create artwork, and test new technology;
  • For more information and program details on our Fun Palaces events visit the Libraries website.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said Fun Palaces is all about bringing our community together to learn, participate and create.

“Whether you love science or art, want to find a new hobby, or are just looking for something fun to do with your friends and family on the weekend then Fun Palaces is the place to be,” she said.

“Our Library Branches in Chinchilla, Dalby, Miles and Tara have put their thinking caps on to create a Fun Palaces program that is fit for the whole family covering topics such as: robotics, virtual reality, chemistry, painting, and some left-of-centre hobbies.

“Our Libraries are true hubs of our community, they are places full of learning, creativity and inspiration so where better to bring people together for a morning of science and arts at our Fun Palaces.”

Western Downs Libraries will be hosting Fun Palaces from 10am to 1pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday 24 September — Tara, Council Customer Service Centre
  • Saturday 8 October — Chinchilla, Fuller Place
  • Saturday 22 October — Miles, Dogwood Crossing
  • Saturday 22 October — Dalby, MyALL 107 Cultural Centre
