Free movie nights coming to a town near you

4 September 2018

Students of Kaimkillenbun State School are excited to see Ferdinand this Saturday.

Western Downs Regional Council has teamed up with community groups across the region to bring free family friendly movie nights to residents of our towns.

Council will be screening the movie Ferdinand in an outdoor cinema setting in eight towns across the Western Downs over the next four weeks.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire encourages everyone to take advantage of the family outings on offer.

“We have some great parks, open spaces and community facilities across our region so it’s fantastic to be able to utilise these as a community,” she said.

“Our region is full of young families who will love these events, so I hope that everyone will come along and enjoy these free evenings throughout the Western Downs.”

Acting Principal of Kaimkillenbun State School Lisa Gillespie said her school community is thrilled to be able to host such an excellent event.

“Our students are very keen to go along and the novelty of having the open-air cinema has really excited them,” she said.

“Events like these really promote a strong community culture within our smaller areas and we definitely feel privileged to hold such a great event in our little school.

“I think it’s a great concept and we’re definitely hoping to bring some of the Dalby community out to share it with us.”

Regional movie nights will be held in the following towns:

  • Kaimkillenbun – 8 September
  • Dalby – 14 September
  • Miles – 21 September
  • Moonie – 22 September
  • Tara – 29 September
  • Wandoan – 29 September
  • Jandowae – 3 October
