Dalby and Chinchilla’s Silver Screens to Enter New Management

Wednesday 18 April 2018

Going out to catch a flick on the Western Downs will continue to be a favourite pastime for residents, with Western Downs Regional Council set to manage both cinemas.

Council will begin management of both the Dalby and Chinchilla cinemas from August to deliver a service that ensures a truly great entertainment experience.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Facilities Councillor Ray Brown said managing the two cinemas was a chance to provide consistent and high quality service to movie lovers across the district.

“Going to the cinema is something so many of us enjoy and we’re looking forward to delivering that high level of consumer experience that our residents deserve,” he said.

“Our two great facilities will continue to provide a wonderful movie experience for residents and those visiting our towns.

“This will bring us in line with other councils across Queensland who run an in-house delivery model for their cinemas, such as Charters Towers Regional Council who has run the cinema in town for three years.”

Charters Towers resident Rossina Crothers said she enjoyed her local cinema service, delivered by her regional council, and believes the Western Downs would benefit from similar service delivery.

“I often go out to see a movie, and the Council does a great job of maintaining the facility and promoting what movies are coming up through their social media channels,” she said.

“It makes going to the cinema enjoyable.”
