Council’s Customer Contact Team named ‘Best of the Best’

Council’s Customer Contact Team have proven they’re leading the charge in doing things smarter, better and more efficiently by taking home the 2016 National Service Excellence Award on Thursday, at the National Local Government Customer Service Network Gala event in Wollongong, New South Wales.

  • With much excitement Council’s Customer Contact Team was named the winner of the National Customer Service Excellence Awards;
  • From a total of 35 council nominations from across Australia, Council was only 1 of 4 to be shortlisted for the National Customer Service Excellence Award up against the Town of Walkerville, Wagga Wagga City Council and Wollongong City Council;
  • Council was also 1 of 8 finalists listed for the Customer Service Team of the Year Award; and
  • The award program recognises the achievements and outstanding service of Local Government teams in striving to deliver the best outcomes for customers and council.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said Council is ecstatic over the win and very proud of the Customer Contact Centre for their tremendous achievement.

“To say we are excited is an understatement – everyone here at Council is ecstatic about the news and we couldn’t be more proud of our Customer Contact Team who represent us so professionally and courteously every day,” he said.

“As an organisation we strive to be best, delivering excellent customer service to the Western Downs and continually looking to improve our customer experiences, so this achievement is a fitting testament to our dedicated Customer Contact Team.”

Council spokesperson for Finance and Corporate Services Councillor Ian Rasmussen also couldn’t contain his excitement for the Customer Contact Team, spruiking his praise for the Team.

“It’s important to take the time and recognise the efforts of the individuals and teams who are setting best practice benchmarks for Local Government,” he said.

“Our Customer Contact Team is the frontline of our service delivery, and I congratulate them for leading by example and redefining what excellence in customer services looks like.

“Our Customers are central to every business decision we make, and it’s our fantastic Customer Contact Team – now the best in Australia, who are making it easier, simpler and more convenient for the community to engage with us.”
