Proving they’re the best, Council’s Customer Contact Team has been shortlisted as finalists in two National Customer Service Awards for Service Excellence and Team of the Year.

Excellence in customer service, exceeding customer expectations, and team camaraderie – are just some of the reasons why Council’s Customer Contact Team has been named as finalists in two National Customer Service Awards for Service Excellence, and Team of the Year.

  • A total of 35 submissions from councils across Australia were lodged addressing a broad range of customer service initiatives and performance criteria;
  • Council’s Customer Service Team are only 1 of 4 councils shortlisted for the National Customer Service Excellence Award and only 1 of 8 shortlisted for the Customer Service Team of the Year Award;
  • Our dedicated team is the only Queensland Council shortlisted for the Customer Service Excellence Award going up against the Town of Walkerville, Wagga Wagga City Council, and Wollongong City Council;
  • This prestigious awards program recognises the achievements and outstanding service of Local Government teams in striving to deliver the best outcomes for their customers and council;
  • The winners will be announced at the National Local Government Customer Service Network Gala Dinner on Thursday 20 October.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Finance and Corporate Services Councillor Ian Rasmussen said to be named as a finalist on a national level is a great honour for Council’s Customer Contact Team.

“Providing excellent customer service is at the centre of everything Council does, and for our Customer Contact Team to be shortlisted for two national awards is an exceptional achievement,” he said.

“These awards recognise the hard work and dedication that our Customer Contact Team demonstrates on a daily basis, and showcases their drive to continuously improve customer experiences.

“As the face of Council, the Team have always led the charge to do things smarter, better, and to seek innovative ways to efficiently service our communities.

“The Team regularly seek customer feedback to find out how they’re doing and how to improve their service, so it’s not surprising that they consistently achieve a 90 per cent or higher satisfaction rating from our customers.

“Our staff and our community can be proud to have such a high-performing Customer Contact Centre that is at the forefront of customer service in Australia.

“Regardless of the final results our Customer Contact Team are already winners in our eyes and we wish them the best of luck at the Awards Gala in Wollongong in October.”
