Western Downs Regional Council is delivering on its commitment to enhance liveability by enabling choice, convenience and modern infrastructure with the approval of Max Fitness’ application to build a new 24 hour Gym in Chinchilla.

  • The new modern facility, which will be located along the Warrego Highway through the centre of Chinchilla, will become a real feature for residents and visitors;
  • Construction of the 24 hour Gym will see the existing older building demolished to make way for a contemporary two storey building;
  • Located at 93 – 95 Chinchilla Street, the large gym facility will be a total of 1,175m2 and offer the latest equipment with all the modern conveniences, from unisex showers and sauna, to a dedicated Ladies area and crèche.

Council Spokesperson for Planning and Environment Councillor Andrew Smith said the Max Fitness development is yet another example of how Council’s proactive approach to fast-tracking applications is enhancing our active, vibrant communities.

“Max Fitness 24 hour Gym is an exciting new development for Chinchilla that will see the expansion of an existing local business, and is set to provide our residents with the latest in health and fitness options,” he said.

“Modern and easily accessible, the new gym will also feature a crèche making it easier for hard working families and parents to fit exercise into their busy schedules.

Council Spokesperson for Economic Development Councillor Donna Ashurst said the Max Fitness development highlights how Council, thanks to new streamlined approval processes, was able to work alongside the applicant and turn around the development approval in little over 8 weeks.

“This development is a win-win for our local community and the developer, giving our residents more freedom of choice while also enabling local business growth. We’re all about making it happen here in the Western Downs,” she said.
